Undefeated, Nigerian-born middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has taken the MMA community by storm. So far he has yet to taste defeat, and he seems to only be getting better. As he shows shades of a prime Anderson Silva, that begs the question: Who can defeat Adesanya? The answer may very well be Yoel Romero.
While Romero has losses in three out of his last four bouts, those losses all came via razor thin decisions. He also remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the division, holding vicious knockout victories over several skilled fighters.
As of now Adesanya is a comfortable favourite at 4/9, while the 13/8 odds for Romero will grant you nearly 2.5 times your wager should the Cuban former Olympian win. Many see Romero as the toughest test to date for Adesanya, it remain to be seen if he is the one to stop ”The Last Airbender”.
East European heavies collide
We will also see East Europeans clash across two weight classes in high-octane bouts. Moldova's Ion Cutelaba, ever intense and unpredictable, comes in at 5/4 against Russian Magomed Ankalaev who stands at 3/5. Also, Marcin Tybura from Poland will face off against Ukrainian Sergey Spivak at heavyweight. Tybura, who has more UFC experience, comes in as a favourite at 3/5 against Spivak, who's odds are 5/4.
Finally, at the lighter weight divisions, we find two interesting bouts that are sure to deliver excitement. Top ranked lightweights Beneil Dariush and Drakkar Klose are set to battle it out at UFC 248, a bout rescheduled from last year. Both fighters bring three fight winning streaks with them, but Dariush lands at 3/5 odds over the underdog Klose at 5/4. Calvin Kattar and Jeremy Stephens will lock horns as two violent, underrated featherweights. Both are coming off losses to top contenders, but it's actually the seasoned veteran Stephens who enters the bout as a clear underdog at 6/4, against the ½ favourite.
